3-D Printed Models and Guides Offer Improved Planning and Novel Surgical Opportunities

Orthopedic Surgeons at Montefiore, in collaboration with Dr. Nicole Wake, are finding an increasing number of applications for 3-D printed models and reconstructed virtual images.  These applications include better preoperative planning, preoperative contouring of implants, the preoperative selection of implants, and the preoperative production of cement molds to match patient-specific anatomy.  These innovations blend sound surgical management with advanced technological advances, placing Montefiore on the cutting-edge of medicine.
