Our Pediatric Team at the 2022 American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference

Our pediatric orthopedics division represented Montefiore Health System at the American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference and Exhibition in Anaheim, CA.

Dr. Alexa Karkenny (pediatric orthopedist) attended with Dr. Leila Alvandi (clinical research associate) and Kathryn Segal (4th year medical student at Albert Einstein College of Medicine).

Dr. Alvandi presented her abstract entitled, "The Impact of Mental Health on Post-operative Outcomes Adolescents Undergoing Posterior Spinal Fusion for Idiopathic Scoliosis at a Tertiary Care Children's Hospital in an Underserved Region."

Kathryn presented her project entitled, "Does a Standardized Post-Operative Protocol Mitigate Language Barriers in the Inpatient Management of Scoliosis Patients? A Retrospective Analysis from a Tertiary Care Children's Hospital in the Bronx, New York."
